Study these examples:
The doctor checks the patient. I always work late. Jack doesn´t agree.

USE:

- a) We use the Present Simple to talk about general truths ( Nós usamos o present simple para falarmos sobre coisas que são verdade em geral) .
EX: Brazil has the fifth largest economy in the world.
EX: BRIC countries make up over one-third of global output.
- b) We also use the Present Simple for things that happen all the time or repeatedly (Nós também usamos o presente simple para coisas que acontecem o tempo todo ou repetidamente):
EX: Tom usually completes his reports by 5pm.
EX: The factory’s cafeteria always closes at 8p.m.

- c) We use the Present Simple to tell how often we do things (Nós usamos o present simple para descrever com qual frequência fazemos as coisas):
EX: Laura often arrives early to work.
EX: Miguel often sleeps in team meetings.
- d) We use do or does to ask questions and don’t or doesn’t to make negative sentences.
(Nós usamos do e does para fazer perguntas e don’t ou doesn’t ao formar sentenças negativas)

- e) I agree…I apologize…..I promise
EX: Do you agree with me? Mary apologizes for her remark.
EX: I promise to update our webpage.
- f) We use the present simple to talk about permanent or long-term situations.
( Nós usamos o present simple para falar sobre situações permanentes ou duradouras) EX: My parents live in Sao Paulo. (they have always lived there and live there now).
- g) We use the present simple for future facts, usually found in a timetable or chart.
( Nós usamos o present simple para falarmos sobre fatos futuros, que se enquadram dentro de uma tempo específico no futuro) EX: Luis’ flight to Rio tomorrow leaves at 12:30 p.m.
